GREEN HOME OF THE YEAR!

United States Green Building Coalitions Most Prestigious Residential Award for LEED Certified Homes

From the front, the home at 445 Ocean Vista Avenue is what you would call “intriguing” in its simplicity. The stark white stucco walls and simple design set against the dark wooden fence and mahogany front door makes you think that the structure’s interior would match the modern exterior — and you would be right in that thinking.

Florida native and architect Rory Reynolds has us inspired with his eco-friendly green home, the Live Oak House.  Located just steps away from the St. Augustine Lighthouse, this little cottage is 2017's greenest home in Northeast Florida.  It's time to see how bilding choices like Rory's can benefit your home.

All the appliances, fans and lighting are EnergyStar and the plumbing is WaterSense. That means that everything is low-glow and overall uses 35% less water than a typical home.   The roof, crawl space and garage walls are all insulated and the windows all dual paned. Utility bills are already plummeting.  Though the Live Oak House was designed and built around being green, investing in certain areas (like appliances or plumbing) will cut down on the monthly cost of running your home and save dollars in the long run. Not to mention, Mother Earth will thank you.
